We have had an excellent turn out at the first networking session between District YEC chairmen and Representatives. We have always wanted to foster greater understanding and cooperation with the YEC in the district and I believe this is a great leap forward.

The enthusiasm and active participation by the members is an excellent start. Thanks to CDC staff for organising this.

ANOTHER YEC LINKED EVENT OF NORTHWEST CDC

PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) is The Leader of Asia Pacific Travel & Tourism. We, the PATA Singapore Chapter, supported by Singapore Tourism Board and the Singapore Workforce Agency (WDA) and Northwest CDC, organized a FREE half-day seminar on an update of the educational pathways and career opportunities in the Singapore’s Travel & Tourism Industry on Saturday 18 August 2007 at the Grand Cathay (Handy Road Location), 9.00 am followed by a FREE screening of “Rush Hour 3”. This seminar is targeted at upper secondary students of Northwest district who would be deciding on their further educational options in the very near future. A total of 555 students and guests attended the event, the largest turnout ever.

This event was graced by Dr Lim Wee Kiak, Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC and Advisor to Canberra GRO

Sinti's Farewell

A fitting lift by the four Gentle Giants

Sinti has been a darling to all for her dedication to YEC.

Whilst we are reluctant to let her go but like a grown up child,

she has to leave home at some stage. More so, it's a promotion

for her at PA HQ. We wish her the very best.Of course YEC also has a team of Gentle & Charming ladies.

1st Travelclub activity - 20th March 2007

The 1st Travel Talk by the French Tourism Board- Maison de la France was attended by 38 members. The talk entitled " The Romance n French Tourism" highlighted several interesing travel options within the country as well as introduced special regions worth visiting throught the year. Mr Federick Meyer, the Regional Director for Asia conducted the talk personally.

In addition to snacks and drinks, participants also walked away with prizes contributed by Hertz Car Rental and Contiki Holidays. 4 members each won a ticket to watch Mr Bean on 21 March.

the aftermath of District Meeting

And so amid the pattering of the unexpected rain, the beats of the pots and pans and the noisy chattering over food, the DM is finally over.

Yay!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all councillors who are able to grace the occassion today as well as Mr Chairman who bravely took the plunge to perform in the opening segment.
